Stats Prove Shaheen Afridi as the Most Overworked Bowler in the World
Shaheen Shah Afridi has been Pakistan’s fast bowling spearhead for the past few years. Shaheen has been in terrific bowling form recently and was one of the stars of Pakistan’s 2-0 Test series win over South Africa. Shaheen has been playing a lot of cricket recently and has been putting in the hard work for the national team.
There have been calls by the cricketing fraternity on Shaheen’s workload management, and the national team bowling coach, Waqar Younis, also talked about how the management is monitoring the excessive workload on his young shoulders.

Lahore Qalandars’ captain, Sohail Akhtar, also recently talked about how Shaheen’s workload will be managed throughout the sixth edition of PSL, and he assured that Lahore would take every precaution to keep him fit and healthy.
To say that Shaheen has been overworked would be an understatement. Shaheen has bowled the most overs by any bowler at the age of 20. He has bowled a total of 750 overs in international cricket. The second on the list is South African bowler Kagiso Rabada, and he only bowled 344 overs at the same age. Shaheen has bowled more than double the number of overs than the next most overworked bowler.

Ever since the resumption of cricket activities after a long break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Shaheen has bowled the most number of overs in international cricket. Shaheen has bowled 284.1 overs in international cricket since July 2020. That is 30 overs more than the English spinner, Dom Bess. The next most overworked fast bowler during the duration is England’s James Anderson, who has bowled 219.5 overs.
