Royal Challengers Bangalore have one more new addition to their coaching staff panel. Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Bangar has been appointed as the batting consultant for the franchise led by the Indian skipper Virat Kohli. The news was officially revealed through the official social media accounts of the franchise.

“We are delighted to welcome Sanjay Bangar to the RCB Family as a batting consultant for #IPL2021! Welcome aboard, Coach!” Royal Challengers Bangalore quoted in their social media accounts.

Sridharan Sriram was the team’s batting coach until last year for the franchise. But no official statement has been revealed on whether he will continue or not. Sanjay Bangar will join the support staff panel consists of Mike Hesson and Simon Katich.

“Delighted to add a Coach of Sanjay Bangar’s experience to our existing coaching team led by Head Coach Simon Katich,” RCB’s Director of Cricket Operations Mike Hesson said on Bangar’s appointment.

The coaching role is not a new one for the former Indian cricketer as he served in the same post for the Indian cricket team until ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Also, he served as the batting consultant for Kings XI Punjab in 2014. In that year, the franchise became the runner-up for the first time in the history of the tournament.
